Resilience
For this Motion Design Project we had to create a circle video to be projected on a half sphere at the Swinburne Design Exhibition. We were given the theme of "Resilience" as that was the word for 2021. For this project, I used Cinema 4d for the very first time. I felt very out of my comfort zone for this project as I had never done 3D animation before but this is probably the project I am most proud of from studying as I pushed myself to create an outcome I was very pleased with.
My Motion piece depicts a rounded 3d vibrant character walking around a garden blissfully unaware of any negative situation. The garden spins around them whilst they walk. Throughout theirs strolls various obstacles come in their way to challenge them but their happiness and calmness mean that none of the obstacles fazes them and they continue with their stroll. This character has learn to accept that life is the way it is, you just have to accept the challenges, adapt or find your way around them to continue with life and not let it ruin your day. The first obstacle is a heavyweight squishing the character but due to their roundness and squishy nature, they slip right out from underneath. Then bubbles appear and slowly capture the character floating them up in the air, the bubble starts to shrink and the character begins to squish in the bubble, but due to his flexible and elastic body he bounces back bursting the bubble then continues on his walk. The last obstacle he faces is the sun comes out and melts his ice cream. This does upset him and he doesn't know how to fix it and adapt. But, thankfully, his friend appears and gives him a new one. This shows how support from friends can build you and help you find your resilience again.
